iPad Scrabble

The Apple iPad was released in the United States on April 3, 2010. Like the iPhone, the iPad runs downloadable applications from Apple's Apps Store. On release day, there were 1000 apps made just for iPad, but Apple claims that many more will be available shortly. One of the games available from the release date forward is iPad Scrabble. The official version of Scrabble for the iPad is produced by Electronic Arts, who also released Need for Speed Shift, Mirror's Edge, Tetris and Command & Conquer Red Alert in time for the iPad's official launch.

Features and Functions

Scrabble for the iPad has several features to differentiate it from other versions of the game, like those played on the PC through Windows. Zooming in or out to get a closer view or see more of the game board is accomplished by simply touching the screen. To shuffle tiles, you shake the iPad. When selecting letters from the bottom of the screen, you place them on the game board by dragging and dropping them into place. In addition to various difficultly levels, game score tracking and customizable rules, iPad Scrabble can even give you tips about the best possible words you can create when it's your turn.

There is also a free Tile Rack App you can download for your iPhone or iPod Touch that allows you to play with an iPad as the main game board while using your iPhone or iPod Touch as the tile rack where you keep your available letters.
