With the introduction of the iPad, a number of applications (apps) have been created to work on both the iPhone/iTouch and iPad, but some developers have decided to create two separate apps: one for the iPhone and one for the iPad.
If you open iTunes and look at the Apps in your Library, you will see three separate sections that indicate the different kinds of apps: "iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad Apps" (aka, Universal apps), "iPhone and iPod touch Apps", and "iPad apps".
The following is a list of apps for both cases.
